I think it was a common shrub planted outdoors in the
1950's or 1960's. If someone knows how tall it grows and
if it should be planted in the sun or shade, I will appreciate
all the information.

Here is a link to a website that sells the "money plant" you may be seeking. I have some in my yard. They're annuals but reseed yearly. In fact they become a nuisance! They do make beautiful dried flower arrangements though. Mine grow in both shade and sun and reach about 3 feet in heighth. Good luck! http://www.humeseeds.com/monyplnt.htm

Could it be Eucalyptus polyanthemos?

Otherwise there's a money plant which is an biennial...lunaria annua
