During a Pap test, the doctor scrapes cells from the cervix or vagina to check for cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, or abnormal changes that could lead to cancer. This removal of cells via scraping can cause some harmless cervical bleeding. This is nothing to worry about!

Yes, you are "scraped" for cells every time you have a pap test. That does not mean you will bleed everytime though. Also, pap tests are done only once a year unless the doctor needs to do them more often due to an abnormal or questionable pap test result.

The doc scrapes you on the inside to test for infections, diseases, ect. Thats why you spot.

Aggravates your cervix.

If you're close to your period, you're more likely to spot.
