Afraid you will get no deliveries on bank holiday mondays. Neither will they empty post boxes until tuesday.

Civil servants (and this includes postal employees) are rigorous in their observance of Bank Holidays. However, depending on where you live, some postal stations are run by sub-contractors and they don't give two hoots about Bank Holidays. They're open 365 days a year. So you can have the really funny situation of the public post office being closed and the postal station in a drug store across the street being open.

no post tomorrow/today, sunday opening for shops - such fun, no more till christmas.

the real question should be why are all the bank holidays packed into a three month span then nothing for the rest of the year - do we really need 6 between easter and august???

why not some in october when we need something to brighten the dreariness that is autumn in Manchester?

In the US, if it's a legal federal or state holiday, then it's a holiday for the postal workers, too.

Be Aware if a federal legal holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday ...
Most Federal, State, City, Postal and Bank employees take an extra day off work if a holiday falls on a saturday or sunday. When the holiday falls on sunday, they don't work on the following monday. When the holiday falls on saturday, they don't work on the preceding friday. Usually on those days the banks are closed, many government offices are closed, no mail delivery, etc.

It depends on whether it's considered a statutory holiday, if it is, as a federal service, the mailmen won't be delivering.
