I live in a small town where every one knows every one. This was said even if it was not true. And the bigger question is what happened to men being gentlemen?

Any man who does this is an immature inadequate excuse of manhood. No real man would do such a thing,.
The old saying "Those who boast really have nothing to boast about" is still true!
Perhaps you could spread a rumor about this individual " that when you went to kiss him good night, he embarrased himself by ejaculating, just from a kiss!" that should shut him up! Then no one will believe he has "gone all the way"
Seriously, though, men who do this will not be believed, you hold your head high and don't allow the gossip of a few morons in your town bother you. Remember while gossips are talking about you, they are leaving someone else alone and will soon find someone else to talk about.

Also in future, don't date alone, stay in groups of friends and then after observing behavour, if some one seems to be mature and respectful you could consider going on a date.
Don't accept datres with someone you don't know anything about. Keep safe.
