"The truly characteristic thing about modern life was not its cruelty and insecurity, but simply its bareness, its dinginess, its listlessness." This is from Orwell's 1984. I wondered to myself if this could be said about modern life. I think it's probably somewhat very true about impoverished areas. Does anybody think this is a somewhat accurate description of today's society? I think society as a whole is losing energy and is gradually becoming stagnant. The individual, however, still holds his zest for life.

It applies in each and every experience, in case you're no longer a believer. for people who do no longer stay decrease than the hot Covenant would be judged by the regulation. That even applies to Christians, who say they are Christians, yet do no longer stay as though Jesus is the LORD over their lives. The Bible additionally says that no longer a single area of the regulation shall bypass away till that's all fulfilled.

Everyone chooses how to see things in the world -- sometimes so much so that one unknowingly puts on blinders and grosses over the ugly parts without giving a single thought.
Each holds on to the familiar and routines, just being glad that there is something to hold-on to. It is what keeps the sanity going, because it has always been that way for the ordinary Joe -- safe, easy and unexcited.

depends on where you are in life, if your wealthy and can do anything you want, those 3 words dont apply. if your really poor, you dont care, so you can still do anything you want that doesnt cost much money. in both cases you dont have to explain yourself. when your in the middle, you spend so much time trying to better yourself that alot of things go by you and you dont even realize it till years later. i guess it also depends on values and whether or not your manic depressive. society as a whole is being beaten down and formed into the way the government feels it will be less threatening to them. if they succeed, then those 3 words will apply

The great philosopher...George Orwell. We all become victims of routine. We exist rather than live. Our main goal is survival and creature comforts to aid in that survival. Personally, my life is fairly listless and dingy. I'm just here and I maintain. Am I happy, no. Am I content, yes, and I am content with content. Sad, isn't it?

today, yes , i think this is true. it applies. but your question made me wonder about tomorrow.. where are we really going? are we going to be more stagnant or more "alive" ?? if "society" is a necessity for human beings nowadays, what will happen if this society lost its meaning? would we turn into separate individuals living with our high-tech machines?
