She is going to have to reach into the drawer at least 2 times to get a pair of gloves. Here is the deal you know that she doesn't care what color that the gloves are whether they are pink or yellow. Also you know that there are 6 pink and 6 yellow gloves in the draw. The number or ratio of the number of gloves 6 by the ratio of the total number of gloves 12. 6/12 is .5. SO she will have to reach in there at least 2 times.

Is this old chestnut still circulating? I won't do your homework for you, but think about the problem this way. There are six pairs of pink gloves and six pairs of yellow gloves.
The six pairs of pink gloves provide six right gloves and six left gloves. The yellow pairs provide six right gloves and six left gloves.
If she pulls three gloves out of the drawer, she will have two gloves that match in colour, but will they match in right or left handedness? Remember, she needs to have both a right and a left hand glove, for whichever colour she draws.
Now you figure out the next step.
Good luck!

3 gloves
first glove: yellow or pink
2nd glove: yellow or pink
3rd glove : yellow or pink
if 1st glove is pink and 2nd is yellow, 3rd can be either
if 1st glove is pink and 2nd is pink 3rd does not matter
if 1st glove is yellow and second is pink 3rd can be either
if 1st glove is yellow and second is yellow, then she will have a pair
but to insure that she does have a pair or matching gloves she will have to pull 3 gloves

Too easy! 3 The 1st one will be pink or yellow. The 2d one will also be pink or yellow, She either has one of each or a pair of one or the other color. By picking out one more, she must have a pair of one or the other color.

take out 3 gloves.
there are only two types of gloves. Pink and yellow. if you take out 3, at least 2 of them will match because there is no 3'rd color.

To ensure she gets one pair she must take out 3. She could pull out two of the same colour first, but to be assured she has a pair she must pull out 3.

All these other people are wrong.
To further clarify, the logic used in the above answers in correct. It does not take into account right and left gloves.
