Make sure that you get a container to put it in....and if it is an aquatic turtle make sure the tank is big enough to have an area where they can get out of the water...whether it's land or a floating log (you can buy them in the stores) and have a heat lamp to put above it so they can bask in it...and if you want to you can put gravel in the bottom but not a lot..the less there is the less hassle of cleaning it....and later on make sure that you get a filter to keep the water clean..make sure the light bulb that you use is for reptiles because they get some vitamins from the lighting...and get the best turtle food that you can because some of them make the water foggy ad make sure you do not over feed because that will fog up the water also....if you don't want a filter then make sure that you clean the water and tank with warm water (without the turtle being in there at the time) every four days to once a week. Aquatic turtles can get shell rot due to lack of proper nutrition and being in the water all day with no way out......good luck with the pet....i love turtles

Turtles are not easy to care for. You can't just put them in a bowl of water and feed them like the other person said. They need spacial lighting and temperatures. If they are a water turtle they need to have a large half water half dry enclosure. Proper set up and care is very time consuming and expensive. Different turtles need different care. You can go to this page http://www.austinsturtlepage.com Click on the caresheets link and find the turtle you have. They have pictures you can compare it to. You'll have to do everything the care sheets tell you. If you don't the turtle will die. Next time please do some research before you bring an animal home.

what kind of turtle??? keep it in water, in a tank if you can enough water they can swim in, but make sure there are a couple of rocks they can climb on to. Get a heat lamp that acts like the sun. You can get one in any pet store. If you need help let me know!!!! I've got 10 in a turtle pond built outside, 6 babies hatched two years ago and 11 eggs ready to hatch any day now. You can feed them meat, lettuce, fruits until you get to the pet store, they will eat dried pellets and/or feeder fish. They are ALOT of work, but very rewarding!!!! And wierd as it may seem, have great personalities. Our babies and some of the pond turtles are hand fed and one even eats hamburger meat. Let me know if you need help! Email me and I'd be happy to help in any way. A MAJOR turtle buff. Love them!!!!! Have 5 different species myself. Both bought and caught. Good Luck. Enjoy.

QUICK! Put it back!!!

Is it a turtle or a tortoise? Do you know the difference? Do you have the $$ it takes to properly care for it? Are you willing to take the time required to care for it?.... Please just set it free.

There needs to be MUCH more information and if you bought a pet, I would hope you had all the equipment and knowledge for care beforhand. If you found a turtle, you need to put it back. Wild turtles should remain in the wild. Bought turtles shoudl NEVER be put in the wild. They are use to be fed and wouldn't survive in the wild.

Please visit http://www.turtleexchange.com/forum for all your turtle information needs.

The bestway to care for a turtle, is to leave it alone or place it near a pond or lake.
