At Christmas time I sent hand written thank you notes to family members I received gifts from. Was always brought up that that was the right thing to do. Haven't received a hand written note in ages though. At least not since email....

i sent a hand written letter out in the mail just yesterday. i think hand written letters are more personal and by being a "grits" girl that is the way things are done down here. the last hand written letter i received in the mail arrived on last tuesday.

I last sent a hand written letter about two months ago. I have a sister who doesn't like computers, so she won't e-mail me. I received a letter from her about four days ago.
I enjoy hand writing letters, and of course, i enjoy receiving them. Hand written letters just have that personal touch, and indicate to me that someone is important enough to have some quality time spent on them, and someone else recognizes that. E-mails may be fast and free, but won't replace a letter from thee.

It was over a year ago. I wrote a friend of mine a letter. She lives about 45 minutes away and neither of us had long distance phone service at the time and she didn't have the internet so I wrote her about things that were going on and she wrote me back about things going on in her life too. Before that, I had a penpal when I was 17 (I'm 21 now) and she lived in Canada. We wrote about two letters a month because it takes so long to get to Canada. I kind of miss it too. A hand written letter feels more personal than an email...just typed words on a screen.

I always send thank you letters by hand. I do that frequently. I just sent one out a couple weeks ago. I also sent a card to a friend to cheer her up a couple weeks ago (also done by hand). Although, I use e-mail and e-cards alot, I think it's more personal to do by hand.
Oh, I also receive thank-you cards by mail.

I sent one out a few days ago and got one about a week ago. My best friend, who now lives in California, and I, now in New Jersey, snail mail because it's fun and more personal. We were best friends when we both lived in China for the last two years, but when we moved apart, she suggested writing and it's been really great so far.

i have several old friends that we all insist on hand written letters and correspond monthly. it seems to be a lost art with people under 30.
i sent one last Wednesday and received one yesterday.
too many people cant even write cursive or even print well today because of the convenience of word processing, cell phones, blackberries, etc.
