I have a Hewlett Packard and I like it, it's a pretty good computer. It's a little old, so I do need one that's more up-to-date. I can't vouch for their customer service because I've never had a reason to call them. I guess that shows how pretty good of a system it is. Just remember a computer can only be fast as what's in it and what's on it. If you plan to have a bunch of stuff on your hard drive you need to be sure you got enough storage to hold it all. Plus you need to be sure you have plenty of RAM and CPU power.
Also, something else to consider is there's going to be a new operating system by Microsoft (if you're not buying an Apple) out next year after Christmas called Windows Vista. I'm thinking it would be smart if everyone waits or at least buys a system that will be compatible with Windows Vista.
Something else important to note. I read an article where the computer manufacturer's like HP and Dell are talking to Microsoft to work out some sort of deal where anyone who buys a PC between a certain time period can get a discount on Windows Vista after it is released. Reason they're doing this according to what I read is because computer manufacturer's
Once Windows Vista is release you can kiss Windows XP good bye as you'll find yourself upgrading to Windows Vista so that any software or hardware you buy will be compatible with the operating system.

As with any brand, there are faster and slower desktops within the brand. It would be safe to say that any new desktop from HP would be sufficiently fast for most consumer users out there.
Congrats on getting a new PC soon.

HP doesn't have fast desktops, they have decent speed desktops....I have an HP laptop and it was "fast" at the time but I cant upgrade anything except the Memory, which I need to do.
By the way....HP support sucks like a *****, I hope you got more than one year support because if its past the year mark for your support, you HAVE to pay to get ANY service for ANYTHING!!!!!

each and everything is a lot greater high priced on laptops, and that they often do no longer artwork besides as a pc. circulate to the save and play around on one, i think of you ought to get a lots nicer laptop for much less money than a pc. i exploit the two regular, and that i'm beginning as much as hate laptops. you may get a secondary inner perplexingchronic, or a exterior one that connects on your USB connector. the internal ones artwork swifter, however the exterior are extreme-high quality besides, stay with Western digital, or Seagate perplexing drives for many suitable reliability.
