Its now called a "Dwarf planet" or a "plutonian planet" and its already been taken off the Planetary Rolls.

We now have 8 planets.

Yes, you HEARD correctly. School textbooks better change, since Pluto is no longer a planet! I was disappointed, since I'm a fan of Pluto, but it IS very small. It is now classified as a dwarf planet, and the mnemonic is now "My Very Elegant Mother Just Sat Upon Needles" (Ouch!) Pluto isn't a planet anymore. Deal with it.

It is now classified as a dwarf planet. I've always categorized it as a Kuiper Belt Object(KBO). The eight planets all travel on what is called the ecliptic, which means they all orbit on the same plane. Pluto is about 20 degrees off the ecliptic and has a very eccentric elliptical orbit which more resembles the orbit of a comet that that of a planet. It's orbit, at times, takes it inside Neptune's orbit. There are many other KBO's such as 2003 UB213(also known as Xena)

Correct ! It was "demoted" just days ago, and is now considered to be a "dwarf planet." They changed it because its orbit takes it, sometimes, closer to the Sun than (real) Planet Neptune. Since it does not "stay in its own neighborhood," they changed the definition of 'Planet,' and it was changed in category. There are supposed to be many more objects like Pluto oriting around way out there, but we have not observed them yet.
