I have read all four Dan Brown books and am now looking for something else to read. Can anyone suggest a good author and book where the main plot is split into sub-plots which later merge into one main plot, similar to how Dan Brown's novel's do.

try karyn slaughter, she has a whole series of books that lead on from each other, they're about a sleepy town of grant county where different freaky murders happen they really got me stuck in, trust me, i only ever used to read romance novels until my bf got me into these. here's a story outline from the 1st one: The sleepy town of heartsdale, Georgia, is jolted into panic when Sara Linton, peadiatrician and medical examiner, finds Sybil Adams dead in the local diner. As well as being viciously raped, Sybil has been cut: two deep knife wounds form a lethal cross over her stomach.

when a second victim is found, crucified, only a few days later, it becomes clear that sybil's brutal murder wasn't a one off attack. What sara and police chief Jeffrey Tolliver are dealing with is a seasoned sexual predator. a violent serial killer.

i promise it won't disappoint, it handles it in graphic detail and it's told like it would really happen. there's blindsighted, kisscut, a faint cold fear, faithless, and indelible so far they all lead on from another. there's also a little romane between sara and jeffrey, they are divorced but they do get together in the end

May i just comment a good read, how ever not including all sub plots is the Hobbit, and then the lord of the rings trio of books.

I don't really know about that plot thing but I would suggest Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice or Philipa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl; too interesting and intriguing to read but they have nothing to go with action, more of social or romantic.

I don't know Dan Brown but Ruth Rendell is a frickin genius with plots. We're talking murder stories here, right? She is the best ever, I guarantee it! I mean, ANY book of hers is good. E.g 'Judgement in Stone'

I have never attempted any of Dan Brown's books but my Dad loves them and like you has read many.

I personally like reading Irvine Welsh's books (Trainspotting, The Acid House, Marobou Stork Nightmares, Glue, Porno, Ecstasy) and Chuck Palanuik (Fight Club, Haunted, Diary, Survivor).

TO KILL A MOKINGBIRD

its such a good book, you feel sad when it ends because its like the end of summer or the end of high school- you don't want it to end. also you realise you are now a different person from when you first started the book/the summer/the school year :)
