There's no way to do that without taking out the battery & looking at the manufacturer information (on the underside). However, if you have the power cord plugged in, the computer will stay on without the battery.

I think you have to take it out. I had the same problem when I had to check if my battery was being recalled. I had another computer so I took the battery out and then went on the other computer to check the numbers. Best suggestion....take the battery out and copy down all the numbers. Then go onto dell's website and type in the battery number. They will tell you if it needs to be replaced and if it does they will start the process right there.

Look on the underside of your keyboard. There's a white strip that has lots of numbers on it. That's your serial number that you can enter into the dell website to find out if it's one of the batteries that will catch on fire.

My battery was one of the recalled ones too. You have to power down your laptop & remove the battery. No other way. Sorry.
