This is just my opinion. Obviously, a lot of people love cruises. First of all, people have been disappearing on cruises for a long time. The news media just picked up on the fact that people do disappear from time to time on cruises. Chances are there are going to be some low lifes on every cruise. They don't do background checks when you go on a cruise. As long as you have the money, you can get on the ship. Your chances of disappearing on a cruise are still between slim and nill. If you over indulge in booze, you have the possibility of falling overboard somewhere on the ship. I went on a ten day cruise to Alaska. My advice is not to go to Alaska. In my opinion, Alaska is nothing more than a big tourist trap. The rooms aboard ships are very small and when you attempt to move around in the bathroom, you wind up with the door knob up your a**. I also noticed that you hear everything going on in the cabins beside you. The walls are made of crepe paper. I look upon cruise ships as expensive floating motels. I would just as soon not be at the motel. I'd rather be out and about.. When you make your reservation, you also pick out what side trips you want to go on. THe criuse line takes care of booking all of the side trips, so of course, the cost of the side trip is inflated with their charges for making the reservation. I would rather fly to my destination, and take care of making my own reservations, and not be trapped on a ship. Plenty of people take cruises and love them. It all depends on your preferences and tastes. I hope you have a good time however you decide to spend your vacation!

A cruise is like being hostage in a floating hotel with no change of clientele and no exit. 8 day cruise to the "Mexican Riviera:. It's a 'captive artificial environment' in a tiny room, smaller than Motel 6!. The 2nd rate Entertainment is aimed at the low-class rubes - the "excited people with signs screaming like crazy outside the Morning News shows on ABC, NBC & CBS - maybe THEY enjoy it. And to really old rich folk. Ships cater to their mentality. Rubes. Alcohol is very expensive and the food all is fattening. Good but bad!
The weather was great, thank you for asking. The people who work on the ships are usually very overworked and underpaid 3rd world folks- not the waiters and exectutives, but the cooks, cleaners and people below ship and are like slaves.
Disappearing people? Sure, there are many cameras on board watching many things, but obviously not everywhere.
And how about the strange sudden illnesses? What's THAT about?
No mas, no gricias!
I'd rather fly to a destination and travel rather than stay in a floating hotel.

I have never been on a cruise, but it is a dream of mine to go on a 2 or 3 week cruise. Somewhere hot, not one in Alaska or anything. Maybe even the Love Boat. I wasn't aware of many people disappearing on cruises. I know there has been afew over the years but I don't find it very odd considering many people drink alot and then go for a walk on the deck and oops they fall in. Thats what I think anyhow.

My mom went on a cruise for a honeymoon when she got remarried. She went to the Bahamas for I think 5 or 7 days. She said it was one of the best experiences of her life. I want to go on a cruise with my boyfriend sometime soon. Definately a experience I want to have before I die. They look like so much fun to just get away from everything and everyone and spend some time together. It looks really romantic.
