I have an old acoustic guitar that I was wondering if it would be possible to put acoustic bass strings on. I would like to put five strings on. Is this possible?

It's possible yes but if you're talking about putting bass guitar strings on a regular guitar (acoustic or not) you're headed for trouble as the neck apparatus is not integrated to with stand the stress of heavier gauge bass guitar strings.

Im not sure if the tuning pegs could handle the size of the strings and the additional tension.

Plus you would have to fix the nut and possible the holes at the bridge. Sounds like a lot of work but if it's an old acoustic you could give it a go I suppose

No. The distance between frets on a Bass is greater than on a regular acoustic. It will be out of tune no matter what you try to play on it. Also, an acoustic Bass needs a larger body....you would end up with a very quiet dull bass sound.

IN MY OPINION, I DO BELIEVE YOU COULD PUT BASS STRINGS ON A REGULAR GUITAR, BUT I DON'T THINK YOU WILL GET THE SOUND QUALITY THAT YOU WANT
