why are they putting in a dress code at school?

By having a dress code they hope to have a better learning environment. When I was a teen, in the 1960s, the dress code went all to h**l! In retrospect, I can see how it contributed to a lack of respect for teachers and each other. How you dress says a lot about what you think of yourself. And, let's face it, some of the outfits are distracting to the opposite sex. Even thought dating is part of being a teen, and you meet people at school, that's not what school is for. You're in school to learn the 3 Rs. It doesn't mean you can't wear trendy clothes. What it does mean is that your clothes must be clean, free of rips and tears, not hanging off your hips or shoulders, and keep you decently covered. No bare midriffs. No low cut tops. If I were your folks I'd be glad they were instituting a dress code. Give it a chance!

There has always been a dress code at all schools, no one ever followed it so things have gotten so far out of hand that between the gangbangers and the Brittiny Spears wannabes.you gave them no choice but to make all the students wear the same boring uniforms. This way nobody feels inferior to the rich kids in their over priced attire, and the faculty can identify the unwanted troublemakers from the students!!!!

Teachers and administrators spend way too much time discipling students for dress code, and this reduces it. The teacher has to write her own notes, then it goes to the staff and then it goes to the prinipal. the might have to dicipline on sat school which costs money to higher someone for it. It costs them time and money. An AA girl in texas was sent to the principals office for having a streak of mcdonald red in her hair. She called the newspaper along with her mom. They said it's a black culture thing. Prinipal said only natural colors allowed. There is no mcdonald red in nature. Of course they said the prinicpal was racist. Waste of time, just follow the dress code. So many mom's look like hookers at work. The ones at wells fargo bank look like they could be prostitues after leaving their jobs in one part of fort worth. THey wonder why their children get into so much trouble,

to keep the girls from showing off everything GOD gave them and to keep them from looking like TRASH.
To keep the boys pants above there ankles so that don't look like the have on there fathers pants.
This way the people at school are more equal and don't have to impress everyone Remember this is school not a fashion show.
We parents have to work for a living and some kids think it's all for them.Don't think so.

because most of the kids today, really need to be taught how to dress properly, and the parents are not doing it.
also there are so many social groups that use colors and clothes to distinguish themselves that it helps to promote a safer environment.

Because they are "downing" individuality. They want you to all show up as little clones. This way, there can be no one-upping lower income families with designer clothes. Also, makes life miserable for those who cannot afford both set of clothes - one for school and one for play. It is BS.

Because school is made for learning, not stupid girls advertising their sluttiness to guys, or guys advertising their promiscuity with suggestive t-shirts. But I really would prefer it if they just let us wear what we wanted. It's not that distracting.
