I have a friend name Ghislaine who is 197 pounds and everytime she walks down the street, people make fun of her. She is currently working out at Lucille Roberts. She says she goes six times a week but because of this, it's holding her back. What should I do to help her besides trying to motivate her?

For some people, the only way for them to feel better is to ridicule someone else - and overweight people are an easy target.

As someone who has lost 102 lbs (Weight Watchers) and kept it off for over four years, please reassure your friend that overcoming her weight problem is indeed within her reach.

One way to lose motivation fast is to be made fun of on a regular basis. My advice is for your friend to concentrate her efforts on a weight loss program she feels comfortable with - and develop an exercise program she can do at home. A good treadmill worked wonders for me! I didn't have to worry about being made fun of, so I could just concentrate on myself as I worked my way to success. Sure, your friend SHOULD be able to get the full benefits of working out at a gym, but alot of people who wouldn't dream of openly making fun of a disabled person turn open season on overweight people.

Please give your friend my well wishes. You're a great friend for being there for her.

It's not done for her benefit, it's to make themselves feel clever.

Tell her to yell back, "Yeah but I can lose weight and you'll always be a jerk."

You don't need 6 days of exercise a week in a gym - she'll injure something. 3 or 4 is plenty and why not walk with her - walking is cheap, easy and it works.

She could be overweight and unhealthy. Or tell her that big girls are sexy too. It's not the weight you are that determines your worth. Plus why bother with what other people think? Health is what really is important. So tell her that if she's gonna lose weight, it has to be for the right reasons.

help her by suggesting the right food,go for walks instead sitting in your House, go with her for a salad bar and tel her what is good for her,no potato salad or noodle salad. Just keep encouraging her and celebrate with her by a good glass of Juice when she lost a few pounds.

Motivation is actually the most one can do. You cannot climb attop their back and monitor their eating and exercise because baggering or controlling someone will discourage them. Motivation is the best because an ounce of motivation is worth a ton of effort and results.

Tell her to be strong, have faith, concentrate on what she has to do, and not to treat negative with negative, it would only make them more negative, positive is stronger, be good to those who hate you, it's like pouring hot coals on their heads, kill with kindness. Tell her to do that, she'll feel good about herself, it would help to be a better stronger person, with out resentment building within.

think ahead to how youll eat and exercise on the weekends its easy to get too relaxed on saturdays and sundays but healthy living is a 7 day a week endeavor
