It depends on the type of paint.
Oil paints should be avoided completely, and latex should be done in an area that is well ventilated, and while wearing a mask.
Here is a quote from an article which I listed below.
"If you are just too excited and you must paint the nursery, make sure you follow these guidelines to decrease the likelihood of paint exposure:
Protect your skin by wearing protective clothing that includes long pants, long-sleeved shirts and gloves
Be certain that the room and house are well ventilated; open the windows and turn on fans
Limit the time you spend on the project; take breaks and move into the fresh air frequently
Keep your food and drinks away from the area so solvents and chemicals will not accidentally be consumed"

it is not recomended to use fumey paint while pregnant.
I happen to be a painter and i used acrilic paints the whole time i was pregnant with mine. I even painted murals on the nursery walls. it was awsome!
just besure not to get OIL based paints or arisol paint (spray paint)
and all ways no matter if your preg or not paint in a very well ventalted room.

i painted my son's nursery when i was between 6 and 7 pregnant... he came out perfectly fine.
paint fumes are not as dangerous as everyone says it is... no need to wear a mask or anything crazy like that.. just leaving the windows and doors as you paint, is fine.

People are way overprotective of themselves and the fetus when pregnant. Pregnancy is not a disability - live your life! I wouldn't eat the paint, or sniff it too much :)

Yes, if the paint is the right kind. Not oil-based paint though...

I wouldn't think so... wouldn't the fumes be harmful to her unborn baby?? That seems pretty weird. Was she wearing a mask or anything?

i dont think that sounds like a good idea ...if paint fumes make an unpregnant person sick...then they can also make a fetus sick
