What things/attractions/events would you make SURE you did?

Also (for those who have gone), what would you NOT do? (i.e. things that are a waste of time/not worth the money?)

Rose,

To begin with 3 nights in Vegas is more than enough time to be out hree. Someone above mentioned a week. Only freaks come out here for a week. Tourists are exhausted by the end of their stay in this city.

Do's:

If you like shopping, hit the Forum Shops @ Caesars Palace. A cool mix of shops, restaurants, and good looking people.

Best casino for young people: Hard Rock Hotel. By the way, the
HRH is not on the strip. It's on Paradise & Koval about 3 minutes off the strip. You cannot walk there.

Best night club in the city: Tao at The Venetian. Pure is a distant 2nd place.

Best casino just for gambling: MGM Grand. This place is so big, that you'll always find available tables at just about any limit - big or small.

Best lounge: Center Bar at The Rio. You can't miss it as you walk in. It starts hitting at around 11pm. Plus it's close to The Palms.

Best after hours club: Dra's at the Barbary Coast. If you still have energy, this is a really cool lounge that hits at around 3am.

Dont's:

Don't Spend Money on buffetts. With a few exceptions (Bellagio & Paris), most buffetts are dumps now. It's like eating at a glorified cafeteria. Besides, as expensive as they are now, it's best just to make a reservation at a nice restaurant.

Don't be a dumb tourist and try and walk the strip. I don't know how many idiot tourists I see every weekend think they can walk from NY NY to Flamingo. The casinos ONLY look close - they aren't. Spend a few bucks on a cab, you'll thank me later. By the way, you CANNOT get a cab on the strip, so be certain to get one at the hotel. zs

Don't go to any casino north of Wynn & Treasure Island (they are across the street from each other). Both of these casinos are on the LV Blvd & Spring Mtn intersection. Head North from here and the city becomes a filthy dump filled with seedy hotels, including the Stratosphere.

Don't go Downtown. Aside from an overrated lightshow on Freeemont Street, there's nothing going on there. Imagine a swap meet with slot machines and you got downtown Vegas.

Club Pure in Caesars Palace is one of the biggest and best clubs in town. If your going clubbing in Vegas get there before 10pm (9pm for Pure). All of the good clubs will have HUGE lines before you know it. Ra is my least favorite. You get the same type of crowds in San Jose and San Francisco and if I wanted that, then I would stay in the Bay Area.

Definitely do a buffet. You can't go to Vegas without going to at least one. Mirage has a great one.

If your going with your girlfriends, the best thing to do during the day is hit the pool. Its a great place to socialize with a lot of people and find out where everyone is going when the sun goes down. My favorite pool is at the Palms because there are very few families with kids and it gives it a more party atmosphere.

If your going with a boyfriend or husband, then avoid the clubs all together and go see Cirque du Soleil. Its Vegas and anything can and will happen.

Go to the Ghost Bar at the Palms. Cool club 55 stories high with amazing views. See the fountains at the Bellagio. Don't see the pirate show at TI or visit their crappy club. Don't gamble at the Luxor as they treat you like crap. If you like animals see the secret garden at the Mirage or the aquarium at Mandalay Bay. You should also be able to get a helicopter ride at night down the strip for less than $100 per person.

Many of the good things to do were listed below.

Waste of money clubs- Tangerine at TI, the Beach (off the strip)

Good place to eat- Mizuno's at Tropicana is pretty good (kind of like Benihana but MUCH better food)

It really depends on who you're going with. I've been to Vegas countless times and have just as much fun on my week-long trips as I have on the less-than-24-hour turnaround trips.

One day, just for a change, you should go out of town and see either Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire. Choose one, as they're in three different directions. All are desert scenery at its best.

Not do? I would not spend all my time in the casinos and hotels.

who goes for only 3 days???????? What's wrong, you couldn't spring for another few days, to make it an even week? You won't have enough time to do anything interesting in 3 days, without running around like a lunatic. Cheapskate!

There is just so much to do in Vegas and it all depends on what type of entertainment you would like. Lots of shows everywhere even free ones.
I would pick when I was there to see what seats were available and what I would prefer.
