my doors and windows are locked and shut, yet in the last 2 weeks somehow bats have seemed to find a way into my home.

if you have a basement, look at the perimeters for any small openings, check chimney, and if you can't stand it, which i coutln;t look in your local yellow pages, there are "bat Doctors" which come out to your house and help find were they are coming in from, i had a old (100+yrs) house and we found a small opening in basement and used that spray foam that expands to fill in hole and no more bats.good luck

I have 100+ yr old house too. This seems to be the summer of the Bat. You really do need to look for every nook and cranny inside and out. After having 4 bats in a weekend, we found that flashing was missing from around the chimney . The bats got in between floors and came into house from a door frame that had a couple of spaces. A funny story for you. I live in a very rural area and so this old house has all kinds of crawlies so I keep bug spray around. It's 2:30am and I'm listening to the bats scurry and flutter around in the ceiling. I catch something in the corner of my eye and there was one of them squeezing thru the space in the door way! I was so startled, I sprayed the poor thing with the bug spray. Usually I use a spray bottle of water and a tennis racket.

Why don't you check around the outside of the house for any openings, such as air vents, cracks in the roof or eaves, or any other windows you may not have seen before? How about drain pipes?
