would you want to remember it?

Probably because you were never encouraged to remember, or treated as if you were able or capable of remembering.
If you had been treated as if you were (able).....if it had just been naturally assumed between say you and your mother, that you could and did recall the birth experience, it is most likely that you would in fact recall it. You have to take into account that children generally don't develop the ability to speak for a couple years, so to communicate this memory takes some time, and some details may get lost.
I encouraged my son all along to recall that experience as well as many other early experiences, and when he was finally able to articulate what he had to say was absolutely amazing, and accurate.........
For instance; at little over 2 years old when questioned, he instantly got up and went over to a light switch, turned it off, and then turned it back on again, and said "Mommy it was like this", he also talked about the other people in the delivery room, one of which was my mother, and of course the nurses, etc.

Other than those who have been hypnotized in regression therapy, I don't know of anyone who can. Of course, these are the same people who remember being Julius Caesar in a previous life.
Seriously, I think part of it is that you have no frame of reference in the uterus. It's relatively dark in there and sounds are muffled. After birth babies do recognize parents' voices, and will respond favorably to music that was played frequently before they were born.

we don't develop memory until we're around two or three years old. the reason is completely biological...we don't have the connections formed in the brain yet, so we psysically don't have a memory. little babies don't have a sense of self yet...for example, if you show them a mirror, they don't know they're looking at themself in it. since neurons haven't developed in certain areas of the brain yet, no one can or will remember being in their mom's womb or being born.

I'm pretty sure memory develops with age. When you were that young you probably didn't possess the brain power to be able to have a memory.

The brain's ability to form long-term memories isn't developed until early childhood.

most of us have become too used to equating the past with words, experiences, comparisons. Since none of those existed in the womb they are invalid to use in this case. follow your pure heart
