I don't recall hearing anyone say that. Most ppl realize that New Orleans took the brunt of the damage because of the levies breaking.

Listen I am sorry that people got hit hard by Katrina in places other than New Orleans and perhaps the media ought to have paid a bit more attention to other areas.

BUT
New Orleans is a MAJOR PORT, a MAJOR CITY, and after the levees broke, the CITY was UNDERWATER. Not for a day, almost two weeks.

You have to understand the basics of journalism, which include going with the biggest rather than the smallest story, because of all the prurient interest and outright nosiness that drives people to pay attention to the news to begin with. If you all were honest with yourselves, you'd admit that you are not so likely to listen to details about an accident in which one person was injured or killed as to a major prang in which ten or twenty people were killed. That would make you sit up and take notice.

Well, that's what makes the media work. Sorry about all the Gulfports, but New Orleans was more important and a more major story in every respect.

You are so right.....I live in New Orleans, and we seldom hear about the Gulf coast. Yet Katrina actually landed around Pearl River. I have friends and family in Gulfport and Bay St. Louis who were left with nothing but the slabs of their homes. I do know that Mississippi has its act better together than Louisiana when it comes to getting things organized to rebuild.

Most people associate Katrina with New Orleans because that is what the media decided to focus on. It made for better press. I haven't forgot where it came in. I was incredibly upset that my old tech school Keesler was basically hit head on.

For those who aren't aware the Gov of LA said that or implied it. That was an interview with her that was shown on CNN. Anyway she is just upset because Miss and Alabama have rebuilt without the need to blame others. They simply started rebuilding.

N.O. was highlighted because of the ineptness of the governor on down to the USELESS" Nagin...isn't it funny how miss. and Alabama...were able and ready???....N.O. has never been ready...monies sent to them has always been relegated to new casinos...additions to the dome...additions to court houses...and a new fountain.....N.O. has been an entitlement city for over 60 years...brought to you by the Dem=lib party.
