Did it wake up on the wrong side of the cage? Did it not get its morning cup of coffee? Maybe your hamster has gotten a taste for human flesh. I dunno.

I don't know what the problem is truthfully. It's an animal - it doesn't know English. Sorry.

A hamster you just got yesterday should not be even handled yet. Give it about a week from the last time she was handled before you go near the cage for any reason but to check food and water. The day you bring a pet home is a scary day for the animal. They need time to get used to you and their new home. You need to get the hamster used to you and your family's voices and slow intoduce yourselves. Also, hamsters bite. Its what they do. If this is something you have an issue with, you should consider returning the animal for something else. Hamsters are solitary creatures and arent fans of human interaction. I'm sorry. Consider a gerbil or mouse, both would make better pets.

OK well first of all its in a new environment and every thing is new to the hamster cause its probably used to the pet store. OK so the hamster is more than likely scared. like one time i got a rat and like she was scared i knew she was scared cause she was bit ting me really hard. if your hamster is bit ting hard then that means its scared cause its in a new environment.

Hamsters are near-sided and need to be talked to close up to recognize who is wanting them before you try to pick them up. When they bite just firmly thump them and say "NO". After awhile they will learn not to bite. Also check to see if they smell food on your hand. Most of the time they are scared. Ours will pee and poop on us when he is scared. Hope this helps you.

He is irritated and scared about his new habitat. I'd give it a little time and see if he comes around. If not you may have just got a damaged hamster.

Some hamsters are aggressive, that is part of their nature. They will get used to people if they are petted a lot and held.

Well you only got her yesterday! I think she may be a little frightened herself, she's in a new home and everything! You just need to keep holding her, just hold her to you in a quiet room so she'll feel safe. All will be fine, just don't give up on her! Best of luck =)
