As many have said you can rent or buy a sump pump to do the job. But if you have a filter and pump on the system then you can avoid spending the money in one of two ways. A). If your pool has a main drain open it all the way and close off the skimmer line. Then turn you multi-port valve on the filter to the WASTE position. That will drain the pool to the very bottom. B). If you do not have a bottom drain and/or a multi-port valve then you can hook up your vaccuum like normal and put it in the deep end of the pool. That effectively creates your main drain! :-) Then you can put the filter in the backwash mode and away you go. Your pool pump in either scenario will drain your pool. NOTE: If you are in clay soil then be careful so the pool once drained doesn't pop out of the ground! Happy Swimming!

You can purchase a small electric sump pump from just about any decent hardware store. Attach one garden hose to drain the pool and one to run the water away from the pool. I use the same thing to drain construction forms before a concrete pour if we've had rain.

Rent a portable pump from Home Depot for about $25-$35 a day....it will take about 4 hours or so.. you just plug it in, hook up the hose to the bottom of the pool and run the exhaust hose to the street.

By using a billege pump. This will suck the water out of the area and empty it to lower areas such as a sewerage drain or road gutter. You can rent them at an equipment store. 2 hp should do it.

Rent a very thirsty elephant. Or purchase a fitting for your outside water tap which looks like a Y. A hose goes to your pool, and a hose goes to wherever you want the water to go. The pressure from the tap will suck the water out of the pool.

Different ways:
1. Bail it out with a bucket.
2. Siphon it out with a hose.
3. Use a submersible pump.
4. Throw all the neighborhood dogs in it, and they'll shake off the water when they get out.

There's a small tool called a drill pump that attaches to to an electric drills chuck. Regular garden hose hooks up to it for suction and/or discharge. It's inexpensive and works well if you're pumping things like small ponds, aquariums, etc. Your local harware probably carries them or they'll know where you can acquire one. Good luck.
