i installed it, turned on my pc and it will come on but it wont run my windows program. what am i doing wrong?

Sounds like you did not install the CD drive correctly. If you do not have the jumper on the CD drive set properly to master/slave/cable select or have the wide ribbon cable on the back of it upside down, it was cause the PC not be to able to read from the ahrd drive, so it will not run Windows.

Remove the CD drive and look near where the power cable and ribbon cable plug in. There should be a set of pins (jumpers) with a tiny little plastic piece over one of the sets of pins. Look to see if the pins are labled M(aster), S(salve), or CS (cable select). The tab needs to be on the Slave set of pins. If they are not labeled, just move the tab one by one down the sets of pins untill you find the set that works. Also, NO tab could be the correct choice. When you get the tab on the right set of pins, your computer will boot and load Windows.

If the cd rom is on the same ide as the hard drive set its jumper to slave if it is on its own ide set jumper to master if on own ide with another hard drive set the hard drive to slave computer will then boot up check bios set to auto detect

make sure the ribon is right and the power cable is in right!!!!!
