The gestation period for livebearing fish like mollies is 30 to 45 days. It could be sooner though if the females have been with males before you buy them. Many of the young wil be eaten, have plenty of live plants for the babies to hide in and feed on as they are born and a few wil always survive.

Molly's do indeed eat their babies. I bought a net at walmart for the babies to stay until they were bigger. It is a good idea to put the mother in there before she gives birth. I didn't know she was pregnant and then I saw all the babies swimming around in the big tank. I am not sure how many she had but I only found about 10. It was a pain to get them in the small net and I had to fight off the other fish so they wouldn't eat them while I was trying to fish them out.

i think they have a 28 day gestation and yes they will eat anything they can fit in there mouth. you might think about getting a live breeder trap so that she is immediatly seperated from her young and so are the other fish.
