www.asos.co.uk
They have some fantastic dresses, maybe not exactly ''ball gowns'', but if you go for something classic, eg a little black dress then really glam it up with some stunning jewellery, the effect can be much better than a poofy dress!!
Try www. treasurebox.co.uk for jewellery, they have lots of fantastic sparkly things. x
Good luck and remember it doesn't matter what you wear it's how you wear it, confidence outshines material everytime!! x x x

Don't be so hasty to dismiss ebay- i bought a gorgeous chinese bridesmaid dress for £21 (inc. p&p), so you may find something too.
