When the computer is booting f8 brings up the boot menu allowing you to change the manner in which your computer boots for diagnotic purposes (safe mode is the most frequently used option)

when you restart your pc and keep taping the f8 key verry fast you will see a menu pop up on you can load up your system in to safe mode when your at the login screen if you use windows xp you will see a
COMPUTER ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT USER ID you ccan click on that to login the pc by safe mode then you can go to the pc control panel and click on other user account ids and if they have loss there pass word you as the COMPUTER ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT
can reset the password you will not see the
COMPUTER ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT USER ID
when you start your pc with out going into safe mode you will just see the user account ids that you made up remember if you use the
COMPUTER ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT USER ID and reset pass words on any if the other yser account ids any work that have save will be lost

Do many things, change starup windows boot mode at start computer, etc...

On startup, it allow you to select the different boot options.

Doesn't do anything on my Mac. Probably because I'd have to program it to do somerthing, and I don't have a use for it.

on Microsoft PowerPoint, I think it starts the powerpoint presentation, and I think it is pause on GTA2.
