Just be honest and to the point. Tell her that you feel this relationship is not going no where and you think it is the best for both of you. Let her know you have made up your mind and she should move on just as you are ready to do so. Wish her well and walk away.

Politely tell it to her face that things aren't working out for you and you would like to call it off. Any excuse is acceptable that is natural and purely based on your personal feelings other than that and it all sounds like bullshit and lame. And deary you do need to sound genuine. Excuses like your mother doesnt like her name wont work. Neither does the sex isn't all that great. However a direct statement like "we aren't gelling well" or "this isn't working for me" or "we are pretty different people" works ok.
If you have to do it on the phone coz you are chicken and cant face her stare, keep it short and sweet. And wish her all the best for the future.

Be honest with her and tell her straight up that you no longer want to date her anymore. If she wants an explanation tell her you don't have the time at the moment. You wish her well. If your a true man you will tell her instead of beating around the bush. It may hurt her but at least you won't be wasting her time.

don`t ever do it over the phone or email `cause it makes you look like a wimp. just break it off in person, and be nice about. tell her she`s been great but you would prefer to just stay close friends.
