1.C - unless you're in a desert wilderness, there'll always be a means to find water and food, if you're patient. Wild animals are usually more scared of you then you are of them and will generally leave you alone if you stay away from their young and aren't carrying around something like a raw steak (mountain lion) or a granola bar (bears). So, not being able to keep your head, running around wildly without thinking things through, seems like the worst thing a person would have to deal with....
2.A - Learned that from my Mom... the North Star is part of the Little Dipper's handle.
3.B - A coffee can can be water proof in the event of rain or a river crossing. You don't want bandages to get wet or medicine to get diluted/contaminated. You don't want a knife to get water damage either.
4.B - A lone tree could get struck by lightning, taking you with it. Same with lake water... and since water is a GREAT conductor of electricity, all the more reason to stay clear of it. Getting close to the ground is the best way to avoid getting struck.
5.A - Trying to get the blood to flow will only cause your friend to lose what little body heat she has left, since your body will try to conserve core temperature for as long as possible and walking around would just cause the warm blood to go to the outer extremities and cool off. Alcohol could kill her.... wrapping her in a warm blanket seems like the best option of them all.
6.B - Wasn't sure about this one... but I know mistletoe is highly poisonous.... and it has white berries... also, most of the nightshade plants have white flowers, if I'm not mistaken, so white seemed like a good choice.
How'd I do?.... if I flunked, my dad would be very disappointed. ;)

1.) I would answer C because it pretty much would be the cause of not being able to find A and may provoke B.
2.) To locate Polaris, the North star you draw a line through the last two stars in Ursa Major, and follow it to the last tail star in Ursa Minor.....so A is the correct answer.
3.)B an empty coffee can because it will keep your stuff dry which is the most important thing!!
4.) I really don't like any of these answers because the best thing to do is take shelter on low ground under fallen trees etc. That way you dont get more wet and you are not on a high point. but from your choices I say B because it keeps you low and may also help you stay warmer being curled up.
5.) A because you want to get the wet clothes off thier body as soon as possible, it just makes you colder being wet.... doesnt matter how much you walk around. Ideally you would also rub thier arms and legs to get the blood circulating again and also you should start a fire if possible and cuddle up to them to add your own body heat to help them. NEVER give someone with hypothermia alcohol, it actually causes your blood vessels to constrict and impedes blood circulation.
6.) I believe it is B white. but I know many plants which have berries or flowers in all of those colours and they are poisonous, like Baneberries, Mayapple, Poison Sumac, Hemlock, and Pokeweed. among many others...

1) C, you can survive at least 24 hours w/o food and water, and most truly wild animals will not come near anything as big as a human being. Panic can send you running over a cliff or into deep water and get you killed.
2) A, actually EXTEND the line between the two stars in the big dipper's bowl. About four tuimes that length away is the North Star.
3) B, I'd have to say, because you can seal everything water tight with the lid and some duct tape. But don't forget to put it IN your backpack! or it's useless! (or in your car, etc. Take it with you when you travel!)
4) B. The other two increase your chances of getting struck.
5) A. Her blood is already circulating (unless she has had a cardiac arrest) and alcohol is a depressant and is contra-indicated for hypothermia.
6) B. Fruits such as blueberries and plums are fine; I can't think of any black plants, but some fungi are poisonous and many fungi are white. If you don't know what it is, if you dont know that it is safe, your best bet is not to eat it.

1.)C - Without a calm mind your ability to deal with even simple tasks is reduced to be almost, if not impossible. If you panic you may choose choices that result in injury or death, greatly reducing your odds of survival.
2.) A- This is common survival knowledge. The only thing to note is you draw this line to connect with the north star to get the most accurate direction north.
3.) A - Most backpacks used for survival purposes are waterproof, easy to carry, and can hold far more then the other options. Also, should you run into odd situations they can become building material as a last effort for survival.
4.) B - Getting low to the earth increases your odds of survival. Lightning will travel the path of least resistance. Air is among the greatest resistors to electrical charge. The more you have between you and the thunderhead the better your odds.
5.) A - Water will pull a lot of heat from the human body. Removing wet clothing will allow the body to naturally recover. Wrapping the person in a blanket will increase the body tempurature to a safe level. It is of vital importance you watch them carefully. Sometimes during hyperthermia the body over reacts and makes the sufferer overheat to dangerous levels. In some survival situations this option is not possible. This makes B the next best choice. Moving makes the muscle release heat as a byproduct of creating kenetic energy. This heat can assist in keeping people alive as the expense of energy. Do not ever waste alcohol on warming people up. If you are unprepared you will need these to treat cuts and wounds.
6.) This is a loaded question. any of the above can be poisonous. If you do not know the exact plant it would be most advisable to test out the plant before consumption. this process can take a long time but offers an excellent method to dealing with plant toxicity. First find a plant you desire to eat. Rub a portion of the plant you wish to eat across your skin in a small patch. Wait 2 hours. If you have a reaction this plant is not edible for you. If nothing happens you move to the next test. Place a small portion of the plant in your mouth and chew it up. Be sure you do not swallow any of the plant. Do this for about 30 minutes. If your mouth feels numb or tingles, has sensations of hot or cold or anything not normal do not eat it. Most poisons react like the above and this proves the plants toxicity. If nothing happens swallow what is in your mouth. Wait 4 hours, if you have no reaction the plant is proberably safe to eat. It is best to do one last test if you have the patience. Eat about 5 bites worth of the plant and wait 24 hours. If nothing happens it is safe to eat.

1. C of what you have given but I'd take Exposure because depending on the conditions you get lost in they can matter more especially if it is winter and there is snow out.
2. A. Polaris is not very bright and you need the stars Merak and Dubhe which make up part of the Big Dippers cup to find it.
3. B An empty coffee can... you can use it to get water... You can't with the others
4. B. Lightning is attracted to both trees and water and if a strike happens in either place it will kill you.
5. A. Remove the wet clothing wrap in blanket and lay up against them to give them some of your body heat. If she is already in a hypothermia state she will not be able to walk and alcohol will not warm her.
6. A. Blue - a guess

I ain't skared to answer this.
1. C. Fear and Panic- Cause you own worst enemy is the human mind, Stay calm, cool and collected and most things will work themselves out. Panic later.
2. B. Follow the line of Orion's belt. Follow the belt north and it will lead you right to the north star.
3. B. An empty coffee can. If you have a lid that would be even better because you can collect condensation with it and have a drink or you might be able to catch things with it to eat. Or with the shiny tin of the can you may be able to signal aircraft.
4. B. Crouch down with your hands on the ground. Be the smallest thing around, If you get hit be lightning you will be grounded and it may go right through you.
5. A. Remove her wet clothes and wrap her in a warm blanket. I also would maybe wanna use my body heat to rewarm her.
6. A. Blue, just a shot in the dark here... I have no clue.

1. C, cause it can impede your thought process and therefore make the situation worse
2. B for most people....No matter where you live in the Northern Hemisphere there is an easy way to find the north star. As you might have guessed it is located due north, but how high in the sky is it? The north star is up from the horizon exactly an angle equal to your latitude. So if you live at 50 degrees latitude, the north star will be due north, up 50 degrees.
(An average person has about 10 degrees, from little finger to folded thumb, in a closed fist when held an arm's length away.)
3. A, you don't have to carry it you can "wear" it
4. A, still have a chance of getting struck by lightning but its better then being in the open so you won't get as wet and suffer hypothermia which is a far better chance of getting then hit ny lightning
5. A, cause the other 2 choices suck
6. A, cause I don't know of any black plants and it sounded better then blue

1. My greatest danger is Fear and Panic. Loss of composure is loss of ability to feed, water and protect myself.
2. I don't know honestly, but he sun sets in the west and rises in the east. I can reference my location to those two compass points in the day and focus on survival at night.
3. A back pack has more capacity and itself can be used as a tool by using the straps and the bag itself for various needs.
4. Crouch down with your hands on the ground, best to do it in a depression or ditch. A tree can focalize lightning particularly if it is by itself. Water if struck by lightning is a good conductor.
5. Walk her around to keep her blood flowing. Removing her clothes is a mistake, it removes layering. you would add the warm blanket if you had it. Alcohol would dehydrate her so you don't give it.
6. White. Just a guess.

1. C. when panicking, people often make foolish or rash decisions. or they don't know what to do and therefore do nothing. very bad idea. if you are calm and collected, you will be able to find some source of food and water. of course, a knowledge of edible plants wouldn't hurt either.
2. A. this should point to one of the stars in the little dipper. unfortunately, it's not nearly as bright as a lot of people think and therefore can be difficult to find. moss grows on the north side of trees and is much easier to see.
3. B. a cardboard box will turn to mush if it gets wet. backpacks are more durable, but they will not stand up very well to curious animals. a coffee can is not the lightest thing to carry, but it will protect your food, etc.
4. C. lightning is attracted to tall objects. in a thunderstorm, trees are not your friends. water is a fantastic conductor of electricity. you can hide in a lake if you want to be cooked. if you crouch down, not only are you short, but if you put as little as possible of yourself on the ground (ie, don't lie down), there is less of you to conduct electricity.
5. A/B. this depends a little on the circumstances. if your friend is wearing cotton, definitely get it off as soon as possible. it takes way too long to dry and there is that survival saying "cotton kills." however, if she is in fleece, she should be fine. either way, getting her heart rate up is a good idea (it is possible to walk around in a blanket). don't let her lie down. she'll just get colder. warm food and drink is a good idea, too, but something like soup would be better than alcohol because it also has nutritional value.
6. C. this is an area i'm not too strong on. i'm going with black mostly because of the nightshade family. off the top of my head i can't think of many blue plants, and the ones i can think of are edible. i know most white berries are safe, but whether or not that relates to flowers, etc., i couldn't say. i do know there is a lot of misinformation out there as to the toxicity of plants. i suppose it also could depend on the area in which you live. and the color spectrum you can see... haha.
Yay! that was fun. thanks.

3. A cardboard box; fill as much as you can
4. Sounda kinda creepy, since I would do none. But I would go for A, take shelter under a lone tree.
5. A; that's what I can think of right now. Don't know about C though, could try.
6. Never saw any blue ot white plants. Black would be more like it.. So, C.
