Enfamil is the best, really. I'd try a different type of Enfamil, like Nutramagin, soy, or something else. They have ones for colic babies, too. (Some of them are pricey, I know). My son was constipated, and the doctor told me to put him on a low-iron formula for a short time, because the extra iron can "bind" the child up. They have all kinds of formulas, so try to find one that addresses his symtoms. But switching formulas can cause tummy pain, too, so be careful :( Stay away from Similac, because I read the ingredients and gave it to my first child, and I think it's "garbage" personally. It made him so colically and he would vomit from it occasionally.

When my twins were infants they tried Walmart brand Parents Choice Soy Formula with Lipids and the gas went away within a day. They too had bad gas and constipation when they were on Similac. Soy is better on their tummies and the generic brand was much better on our wallets.
Parents Choice formula is a nutritionally complete alternative if your baby is lactose intolerant or allergic to cow’s milk protein. Parent's Choice Soy with Lipids is also designed to help infants who are recovering from diarrhea. Parents Choice website also has a comparison chart with other formulas.
According to our pediatrician, it doesn't matter which brand you decide to use, but it's always best to try starting with the cheapest formula try until your baby likes the flavor.

I put my son on Isomil soy (made by Similac). He did wonderfully on it. The iron in the formula often upsets little tummies (especially those of boys, for some reason). Someone else mentioned Parent's Choice. Although it may have the same basic ingredients, my son got horribly sick from Parent's Choice (we gave it to him on several different occasions, just in case for some reason he wasn't feeling good to start with. Each time he vomited after he drank the Parent's Choice). For me, it was not worth the savings. I recommend trying the soy. Nestle GoodStart makes a soy, and it's generally cheaper. Good luck!

Enfamil makes a formula for gassy babies called gentelease (purple can) MY son was on the regular enfamil first (gold can) and that just gave him painful gas. He does real well on the gentlease. Also try the baby mylaanta gas drops after he eats, what it does is helps them burp, to prevent gas. One more thing, if the baby is just off the breast and is getting use to the bottle he may be getting to much air intake from the bottle, try the Avent nipples for breast fed babies for the adjustment. Good luck

Don't you think if the woman wanted breastfeeding advice she would have asked for it? Gee golly Pete. Next time you lacto-nazi get up here asking queries about how to ease the pain of your mastitis, I'll just rudely suggest to you "Go to the store and get some Enfamil and a pack of nursers".
Anyways, to the asker...you should ask your pediatrician. Enfamil is a pretty well tolerated formula for most non-lactose sensitive children. Your baby may need tests to check for lactose sensitivity, and in that case, he'll need a lacto-free or other special type formula. Get to the pediatrican soon as you can to get the best help for your baby. Good luck to you.

Iron in formula really does NOT cause constipation. Try soy if your pediatrician says ok. My son had BAD gas problems, so much that he didn't want to eat and once we started him on soy the difference was like night & day, no more feeding problems or painful gas.

You should talk to your dr about Prosobee which is a soy based formula that is a little smoother on the babies stomach and most babies that are allergic take that. It's a little sweeter because of the soy, but again talk to your dr if you really want to find out what you should do. I used to breastfeed and my daughter hated enfamil and similac, but she loved Prosobee!

I would try Parent's Choice from Walmart it has the same ingredients that Carnation Good Start/ Nestle has, easy on the tummy. Also try a couple ounces of water each day that will help the constipation. Works every time. Happy parenting!

You should not go to a low iron or soy unless your dr. gives you the okay. Babies need iron
If you can try mixing some breastmilk with the formula, and you can start using less breastmilk. This will allow his system to adjust
I had my son in the Wal-Mart brand and I have heard many sucess stories from it. If you do choose to switch formula brands mix the old with the new and slowly decrease the old brand.
