Yes, go to your control panel... Start > Settings > Control Panel. click onthe icon for Sounds and Audio Devices then click on the sounds tab. In the drop down under sound scheme pick windows default.

In control panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds tab, change the "Sound Scheme" to Windows Default.

If u r using a windows xp o.s then go to the control panel and click sounds and audio devices, go to the sounds tab and choose the windows default sounds scheme and click ok
