Im in the process of buying an MP3 player and want to get suggestions or which ones to possibly look at buying.

I am NOT interested in getting an Ipod so don't waste your breath. I am only looking for ones that are compatible with Rhapsody and/or Urge(Windows Media Player).

I don't care about a video screen. But I do want it to display the song title, artist, etc...with good audio as well.

I would also like to stay under $150, under $100 would be awesome.

Also approximately how many songs will 512mb hold? 1gb?

Thanks!

great! U came to the rite place! Wal-mart has something called an ILO. go to their website and check it out. just type in ilo mp3 player. it has 256 mb on it's hard-space, but you can add memory chips. 256 will hold about 50 songs, 512 MB will hold about 130, and 1 gb will hold around 250. I have had experience with all of these. Oh, and their ilo has everything you mentioned, and costs about $60-$80 dollars. Hope this helps! and good luck!

oh, and Lyras are good, too, but they are shuffles.

Your best bet is Creative, they make a wide variety of players. The best one for your needs is the creative Zen V.You can find it at bestbuy. The 1 gig version comes in around the 100 dollar range.IT has a 1.5 inch colour screen and displays artist ,title and even album art.It is compatible with all music services such as Rhapsody, musicmatch, yahoo, urge, napster. If you opt for the "plus version which is a litlle more expensive you get video capabilties and fm radio.Creative has amazing sound quality with a signal to noise ratio of 97 db.The battery on the v lasts around 15 hours .It is pretty compact as well so you can put it in a pocket or purse. The v is also scratch proof and very durable. They have a full video review of it at cnet.com

haha i'm wasting my breath. iPods are compatible with both Urge and Rhapsody. under $100- iPod shuffle 512 mb

a gb is about 250 songs, 512 mb about 120. either work for a light music listener.

also, there's a mp3 player called the cube, i believe, and it's made by (sandisk?) i'm not sure, but it's a nifty 1"x1"x1" one-gig mp3 player. they're pretty rare, but i think they're $70 or so. http://www.mobibluamerica.com/dah1500.html http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3756866 <--websites for the cube

the zen micro is something to look at, too.

good luck

Here are some top rated MP3 players according to the c-net website:

The thing is, how many songs you can hold depends on how you ENCODE them. If you encode them as "lossless," they will be huge. If you encode them to a small size, each song could be as small as 1MB.

I used to encode a lot of music for a small MP3 player in wma format, at a bit rate of 64kbps. At that bit rate, a 3 minute song is about 1.5MB. Now that I have a 60gb ipod, I encode my songs in MP3 format at 192 kbps. At that bit rate, a 3 minute song is about 4.5MB.

The higher the bit rate, the better it will sound... so it's a trade off.

Ugh, I'm glad you're not interested in an ipod, they suck.

I would try a ZEN mp3 player. I hear they are compatible with a lot of different formats and they work really great. They come in defferent colors and have a color screen.

Hope your new mp3 player works better than mine!

the creative company has good ones. i have a 30 gb creative zen vision:m. it was well over 150 though. but the brand in general is very good quality. they have other ones with smaller capacities though, i was just telling you what i have. if you go to www.dell.com, you might be able to qualify for their credit card and you could charge it to that(if you are over 18). thats how i got mine, i bought it from dell. the 8 gb should be about 150 or so, i think. i hope this helps.

I personally am partial to my Sandisk E260. Great interface and battery life, easy to use controls. Its small and light and expandable with micro sd memory cards. Mine is a 4gb and currently is full with 823 songs, no videos, or photos stored on it now. You can find them online for around $170 now or get the 2gb or 1 gb and save a bunch. Also usually its safe to assume around 200 songs per gb. Depends on bitrate and format and song length.
