It is amazing to see all the "no and no" answers. People know the government is not to be trusted. They know the government isn't looking out for their own best interest. Still, they keep voting in the status quo Democratic and Republican politicians who want to expand the power of the government.

The current administration has used the war on terrorism, which will never end since terrorism is viral in nature, to cripple personal freedoms.

The Dems and even Republicans like Mitt Romney favor socialized medicine which has been a failure in Canada and England.

Both parties are addicted to spending via earmarks which amount to returning campaign contribution favors most of the time. Here in California, Dem. Don Perata was caught voting down a bill opposed by the BIA, for which he received a half million dollar campaign contribution. (not inconclusive proof of pay for legislation, but enough for me) Meanwhile one of our U.S. Congress GOP, John Doolittle has been found to funnel his campaign contributions through his wife's fundraising company for a 15 % cut. Of course, since California is a community property state, he was charging his own campaign and benefitting personally from it. And yet Doolittle, with all this in the public, is ahead in the polls against his opponents.

If you want less government corruption, start with less government. That is where the Libertarian Party comes in. At the very least, voting Libertarian lets the established corruption parties know people are starting to wake up and they aren't gonna take it anymore.

No, not typically. When they are looking out for "the public best interest" it usually only works for the benefit of a small portion of the public. They are looking out for themselves and trying to decide how we can fund it through taxing us to bits.

You should never completely trust the government, because that's how your rights are slowly eroded. Especially a government that doesn't follow its own laws.

No I don't, and no, most of them are not. If they were, most government staff would be happy as volunteers or with a cost-of-living stipend.
