5x * x = 5x^2

x * -2 = -2x

-3 * 5x = -15x

-3 * -2 = 6

All together, you have:

5x^2 -2x -15x + 6

You can combine the two middle terms to get:

5x^2 -17x + 6, as your answer.

F - Multiply the first two.

x * 5x = 5x^2

O - Multiply the outside two (x and -2)

x * -2 = -2x

So right now we have 5x^2 -2x

I - Multiply the inside two (-3 and 5x).

-3 * 5x = -15x

So right now we have 5x^2 -2x -15x

L - Multiply the last two (-3 and -2)

-3 * -2 = +6, since multiplying like signs is always positive!

So we have 5x^2 -2x -15x +6
add the negatives that have the same variable (x)
-2x + -15x = -17x

So the answer is: 5x^2 -17x +6
