The women talk about weight, make-up hair, and resturants. When living in Canada I worked and had a wide variety of conversations. Now I barley speak the language here and find the women talk about the same things all the time. I am scared I will become like them. What should I do? Keeping in mind I do not have the resources I had in Canada. Thanks for any help.

I don't know where you've moved to, but that's pretty much all you find in most women's magazines all over the world. Just add how to please a man, how to find a man, how to understand a man, how to get rid of a man, how to earn money like a man and similar topics. You and the women are probably not very close, so they would likely not talk about anything more profound around you. Also, language barriers are hard to cross, particularly if there is also a culture barrier. What you should do is work on improving your language skills by having these mundane conversations with these women, but try to broach different topics by keeping up with current events (as much as your knowledge of the language will allow). You can always direct the conversation to other things. You will find that some will respond. Those who do not read the newspapers or have limited education may be unable to reciprocate, but you can only persevere until you find like souls.

Try getting in to a hobby that YOU really like. Chances are you may meet friends that you have more interests in common.
