I think my earliest memory was laying in my pram with the hood up as it must have been raining, the smell of the fabric of the hood and the smell of rain.

It was the smell that brought the memory back to me, especially when its rains!!!

I was 2 and in the hospital. I had climbed up on a chair in our kitchen and got a bottle of diet pills my Mother had on the shelf and I took all the pills in the bottle. I remember I was way up in the corner of the ceiling looking down on myself with the Dr. and nurses standing around the crib.

I remember being held by my mother in what was to become my childhood home while she was viewing it. There was a very tall, thin man standing in the doorway infront of us and Mum was talking to him. I felt quite insecure at being there but safe in Mum's arms. At the time I couldn't have known what these feeling were called as when I recalled the experience to Mum several years later, she said I couldn't have been more than 6 weeks old.

I have many memories of being less than a year old

About 2 years old - hiding in the hallway while my Mum vacuumed - I remember being terrified of the Hoover!

Looking at the other answers it seems most people's earliest are about 2 years old as well, I'm impressed if anyone can remember anything earlier.

on a normal state of consciousness my earliest memory is the first time I was taken to nursery ,I must have been 6 months old and I remember being in someone`s arms and that I was looking up to this big white person with a small head and I was being put in a cradle, but I have an earlier memory but thanks to shroomies, I remembered when I was 3 months old I nearly choked and died drinking my mums milk when she was breastfeeding me.

Unfortunately my memories are not like yours... My earliest one is when I was 4 and my father was teaching me how to ride my orange bycicle without the little wheels on the sides to stabilize. Everything before then comes up because I have loads of pictures.
