I have a 96 chevrolet astro in which the abs light is on. i checked wheel sensors and found a wire which was damaged and was shorted against the frame of the vehicle. Should i just replace the wheel speed sensor and wire to it or do you think the abs module is now damged and will need replacing also. Any advice would be extremeley helpful!!! Thank you in advance!!

I had a line cut in a blazer once and spliced it. I later found out you're not supposed to do that.

Personally I wouldn't go much beyond replacing the damaged part. Even if the ABS module was damaged, it'd be expensive to replace.

ABS doesn't make that big of a difference anyway. Just go back to pumping the brakes when sliding.

I think just repairing the broken wire to the sensor should do it. Then you will have to go to the dealer to check for more codes in the ABS if the light does not go out. Wheel speed sensors are the front and rear wheel bearing and hub assemblys around $230 each and generally don't have long wires on them so you will be repairing a part of a body harness. And you don't want to know what those cost.

drain all the old brake fluid from the brake system, then check for any leak, put some new dot 3 abs brake fluid and look what happens, if it don't you will have to unmount your brake main pump and clean it the best you can

your computer is throwin a code to turn on that light you need to take it to auto zone so they can plug the obd computer to reset the code so that light shuts off. Its a free service I think. but you need to get it reset.
