Yes...I know a young lady who started figure-skating at the age of four, and she competes at the national level (Canada) now. She deals with lessons, lessons, lessons, travelling, weight watching, injuries, stress, and her parents deal with all of that, and the expense. I believe that it is one of the most difficult things I've ever seen anyone do.

When you first learn its hard but then when you get more balance it gets easier, but then when you learn new jumps and spins and footwork, and if you probably do it for a while you will start moves in the field which is just a pain and i hate them. I have had a few injuires from skating even when i didhave padding on, but i dont really wear padding anymore, you just have to accept that your going to fall a lot and its going to hurt but if you believe you can do it after a while you will be able to do it, it takes a lot of hard work and most people dont relize how much junior and seinor skaters practice i have a friend on junior level who goes to school an hour before every one else at 7:00 then she leaves at 9 goes to the rink for 2 hours then goes to another rink for and hour with her coregrapher, then then goes to pilates for half an hour, then physical therepy , then on tuesdays and thursdays she goes to the gym and weight trains and she does her homework in the car and during lunch and at home she has a tutor. But on sundays she does skate at all just pilates and the rest of the day she just hangs out with friends but it takes uo a lot of her time. If you start skating and arent very good and want to quit dont because everyone is horrible when they first start you just have to work hard and believe in yourself, you probably wont skate as much as my friend maybe one or two days a week but it will still be tireing. I hope you try skating and enjoy it good luck. wow i wrote a lot, i guess cause i'm bored

Although I have never ice skated in my life, it is hard at first. There is no need for you to be nervous. Keep practicing. You will get the hang of it soon enough.

No I've been figure skating since I was 4 so it's awesome first just hold on to the boards and glide then if you pursue it then you just learn more and more and it's SO MUCH FUN too.it fun to compete most. Its really hard work if you wanna train with coaches. its hard to get to jums and spind and learning edges. and tripping on your toepick. Most rental sktes at the rink dont have edges though. Well try hard and good luck!

well its a lot of fun, but if you're really serious and want to train for competitions, its takes a lot of hard work. otherwise, its a little tricky getting the edges and using your toepick and keeping your balance, but it gets a lot easier in time.
