Make sure the laundry detergent you're using doesn't have bleach in it. Bleach doesn't ALWAYS turn things white...some laundry detergents have just a little bit of bleach in them and that fades colors. Get something with a "color guard" and it'll make your clothes stay darker longer. But eventually, your clothes will fade, there's NO way around that.

It's the dye. Some dyes are going to fade no matter what you do, even if you wash in cold with no detergent. The best chance you have is to do a very quick, gentle wash with cold water, and as little detergent as possible -- you do want to get the shirts clean, but if they're not too dirty they don't need a lot of detergent. Turning them inside out while washing and drying is supposed to help, because it keeps the good side of the fabric from rubbing against other clothes in the laundry.

1 you should aways wash everything possable in-sideout.2 use a very good washing solution IE for colours. 3 make sure the washing progam is correct for the fabric, 4 read you lables on the garment 5 wash all the same colours together. 6 watch your temp most garments these days (except good white cottons) only need 40-30°C. and becareful with how you iron or tumble dry some colours become unstable in high heats. tipp..in the first wash of a new garment use salt it fixes the colour

When washing black (or dark) cotton items at home, use a cup of vinegar the first time you wash a new article. The vinegar helps set the dye and it will last longer. If that sounds gross, try using "WOOLITE Dark Laundry" Fabric Wash . It fights fading of colors and maintains color intensity.
Also Cold water is your friend for dark colors and viberant colors. Hot water will lead to faded clothes over time.

You wash colored clothing on the "hot" cycle when you should do warm or cold, too much fabric softener, or the shirts have been soaking for too long in the wash. I can't think of much else that could be wrong. Also try washing them on the "gentle" cycle.

i think the hotter the water, the bigger chance colors can be drawn out of the clothing. I would try to use cold water and not as much detergent. In actuality, you dont need to be using lots of detergent. clothes get clean even when using modest amounts.

Try using washing powder made especially for colours, it should stop them fading as it doesn't have any whitening agents in it.

When you first get them wash them in COLD SALT WATER to set the color.
Then, don't use those detergents that have "color safe bleach!"

You need to use a good detergent, and use cold water. Also I would hang it out to dry. If all else fails dry clean it.
