I work for a company that would allow me to transfer to pretty much anywhere in the U.S. I'd like to live someplace with mild summers and winters, lots of sunshine but I do enjoy the occasional stormy weather, a progressive, well educated electorate, and a big gay population. In the best of all worlds I'd also like someplace somewhat affordable (read: NYC would be out of the question). Any suggestions from those of you who've done it would be greatly appreciated!

Atlanta, Georgia. There is Midtown, which is Gay central. The summers are pretty ok, and the winders can get cold, but you get used to it.

Orlando, great weather and tolerant. Great weather, afternoon summer storms, occasional Hurricane. Decent size gay community, diverse races. Not too far of a drive to Miami. A lot cheaper than NYC. Growing population.
Orlando is a good choice, I am not referring to the tourist areas either, though they have a very high gay work force and a big gay day party every year.

Move to San Diego. They have a pretty big gay population. There is actually an entire suburb of San Diego that is completely and wholly gay. I forget the name of that suburb, but it would be paradise for you. By the way, Tijuana, Mexico is across the street. You might like that.

California is dying. People cannot afford to live there. Soon all the smart people will move elsewhere leaving only the dumb ones. And what kind of life would it be living with dumb people.

Move to a college town in the south west. You should be okay anyone that you choose.

I live in Baltimore, and it fits most of your criteria, but southern FL sounds good for you, too
