The beaches in Cancun suffered badly in last years hurricane, although they have done a lot of work on them they are not what they were.
The beaches in Playa Del Carmen are much better. Nicer then Acapulco in my opinion.

I have been to many Mexican beaches it's hard to say so many good ones. I like the beaches on the Carib side Tulum Playa Del Carmen on the way to Punta Allen miles of beach you don't see any one unspoiled white white sand.

Pie de la Cuesta in Acapulco was beautiful in my oppinion, but it's definitely hard to beat the beaches in Cancun.
