I've been hearing stuff about plastics in the news lately and that certain water bottles can be carcinogenous. Specifically PETE 1 - Polyethylene Terephthalate which makes most of our water bottles etc. How dangerous would you think this really is?

I'm going to die of something anyway.

Sorry!!

I have a better"question" why are these damned things
manufacftured in the first place? I mean ask yourself,
I recently purchased a dirt devil vacuum, and according
to the "state of Calif." some of the materials are con-
sidered "carcinogenic" I am not understanding this.

That's an interesting topic. Although, I wonder how long they have been using these types of plastic and if they are doing any studies to see what the longterm effects are when using plastic bottles or consuming products from them. There is a lot of crap in many of our daily objects and who knows what is accumulating in our cells, its sad to hear these things, but we should always be on the look out for it, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Now I will be sure to research more and try to use safer plastics...

If it would be carcinogenic then all of us would be having cancers
Dont be afraid, everything which is carcinogenic is not always going to cuase cancer so keep on using
And if u have ur bad luck then u cannot stop air going inside ur lungs (air is also carcinogenic)

Every month of every year the media says something is cancerous. Technically, they don't care if it's true or not, they get a story. According to them, everything can give you cancer even blinking your eyes! So, plastics shouldn't come as a shock.

I really don't think that's a quite researched fact. Media broadcast will say virtually anything for audience sake.
