Absolutely not, the surgery will have to be re-scheduled. A hystrectomy is considered an elective surgery, meaning its not for an immediate life-threatening condition. Only surgeries performed for a immediate life-threatening condition will warrant an approval to move ahead while the patient is experiencing an additional ailment.

In general, elective surgeries not are performed in the presence of infection. You must speak to your surgeon STAT to find out what her/his position is about your situation. You know for what time your procedure is scheduled. Because the schedule for procedures can start at around 6:30 am, you'd better call and have your surgeon paged to you NOW. Have complete information ready and on hand: your current temperature and any other symptoms.
I'm not saying this is guaranteed but your surgeon may wish to reschedule.

I would wait till your cold clears up - your immune system is down/fighting a cold and virus - you might catch a staff infection during your stay (even for a few hours) while in the hospital - these are very tough to cure . be careful - watch your own health. The hospital is a very dirty place.!If the nurses and doctors would only wash their hands from patient - it would be a great place to be!

I wouldn't think your surgeon would go ahead with surgery if you are already sick.
I understand the desperation. But you DO want to wake up.
Get Well!!

I wouldn't recommend having major surgery if you have a cold: reason being pneumonia can be a complication of major surgery.Speak with your surgeon.
