My Triumph Sprint ST is the best all-rounder that I've ever ridden. And I've ridden A LOT of bikes. It's not super fast but it will get up a little past 150 if you max it out. It's a little bit heavier than a typical sport bike but the wheels are so light that it still handles nearly as good as a 600. I've got 29,000 miles on it and the motor has been super reliable. I have had a problem with the fuel lines, but that's the only problem I've had. It's been no worse than any other bike in this regard. What's more it's smooth and pretty quiet. And it'll get 60 MPG on the highway if you hold your speed to 65.

I depends on what you want. And even then it still comes down to your abilities and personal style.
For cruising, you can't deny Harley's.
For Sport Touring, BMW's have really cornered that market, but so has the Yamaha FJR1300.
For Luxury Touring, the Honda Goldwing is the staple of the class
For Supersports, you can go with either the Honda CBR600RR or the Yamaha YZF-R6- both are insainly fast in the middleweight division. But for liter bikes, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is the fastest as of now.
For exotics, I think the MV Augusta F41000-R is pure mechanical sex. Single-sided swingarm, composite Marchesini wheels, and the latest generation of the radial valve 998cc, liquid-cooled DOHC straight-4 and amazing bodywork designed by the same guy who laid-out the iconic Ducati 916.

SUZUKI is the best manufacturer for motorcycles. Fast, reliable, nice looking, from a manufacturer worldly reknown for it's motorcycles. After that, a Kawasaki Ninja is a good bike you would enjoy its top speed of +300 km/h.

You should buy a Harley - just like the other 5 million wannabe bikers.

You can buy a overpriced motorcycle and then dress like all the others. Don't forget to modify the exhaust so you can annoy everyone around you.

Police special. Both BMW and Kawasaki make one. Those guys have to be on motorcycles all day. D'you think they'd be riding something uncomfortable?

I loved my Kawasaki police special. I had to give it up because people kept waving me over wanting me to arrest bad guys!
