My boyfriend of four years and I broke up about a month and a half ago. I'm recovering slowly but surely, but I still have my bad days (today's one of them, blech) and I feel like making a playlist to reflect this. So what are YOUR favorite breakup songs? I have a wide taste in music, and I'm always on the lookout for new bands to like, so suggest something to me, okay? Preferably no Top 40 stuff unless you think it's really good.

lot of this stuff is punk rock, if thats OK. i am seriously a straight guy who likes punk. its kind funny. well, here is the stuff:
track artist alblum
its not your fault: new found glory its not your fault
perfect world: simple plan still not getting any...
pieces: sum 41 chuck
survive: rise against sufferer and the witness
i hate everything: 3 days grace 3 days grace
rough landing: yellowcard lights and sounds

ok, most of this isn't top 40, if it is i apologize. i made it super easy, i didn't put the full names of the last two songs so they would fit. but i put the alblum and artist so you can find them with ease. if your using itunes or napster, you can look up the artist or alblum. if your using morpheus or limwire, you can just put the artist in front of the song title. or on limewire you can fill out the alblum box and search the song in the track box. i really hope you give me best answer. the stuff is really good. sorry about your Bf. i bet he was a real jerk. anyway, enjoy!

Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.

Best breakup song ever.
Ever.

And the suggestion of Oasis's 'Don't Look Back in Anger" kicks a ss too. Good one.

My fist break up song was Love Don't Live Here Anymore. I think sung by Jimmy Nail. (it was the 80's)
since then, Don't look back in anger by oasis and Point of view by db boulevard.

have loads more but they are my most memorable!

I'm guessing I'm a little older than you, these tunes tend to have a bit of twang and may be unfamiliar. I lean toward break-up CDs:
"River" off "Blue" by Joni Mitchell
"I Can't Love You Anymore" off "Road to Ensenada by Lyle Lovett
"Return to Me" by October Project their first (eponymous?) album
"When the Spell is Broken" by Richard Thompson off "Across A Crowded Room"
"Only a Boy" by Linda Thompson (Richard's ex) off "One Clear Moment"
"Gravel" by Ani DiFranco off "Little Plastic Castle"
"Old Boyfriends" by Crystal Gayle off the soundtrack to "One From the Heart" with Tom Waits
"Martha" by Tom Waits off "Closing Time"
"That's No Way to Say Goodbye" off "Songs" by Leonard Cohen; also "Bird on a Wire" off "Songs from a Room"
"Blue Umbrella" by John Prine off "Sweet Revenge"
"Are You Happy Now" by Richard Shindell off "Sparrows Point" -this one's actually funny
