This is not likely to be a fault of the phone, but rather your sim card, my first advice to you would be to remove the sim, and re-insert, if this doesn't help, remove again, then using a rubber (eraser) litke the one on the back of a pencil, rub with medium preasure ofer the sim gold contacts, brush off the rubber bits afterwords, and re-insert, this should rectify the situation.

Basically SOS calls only means that the phone has no account information to charge to (no sim), or no valid credit (pay as you go), and therefore is only offering the basic level of service thats free.

Hope this helps

This is common with Sony Ericsson. They are known for having poor signal strength. I've stopped buying them cos of it. Had SE phones on all the main networks and always the same. Eg. Had Se W800 on o2, 2 bars reception fluctuating down to 0 in my house. Put sim card in Nokia and get full signal. Tried different Se model on Vodafone and was even worse. Where as with my Nokia I had a perfectly clear signal, with the SE customer services couldn't hear me cos I kept breaking up, had to go stand by the window !

I got the same fone check your sim card bytaking it out and putting it back in (thats normally what I do when I get 'SOS CALLS ONLY') If that doesnt work phone your network and explain the matter to them they should be able to go through the problem with you as i'm sure we're not the only phone customers it happens to lol. Good luck I know how frustrating phone problems are :)
