By deciding Pluto is not a planet? I think that it is a stupid choice. It would have been a lot easier to add a planet than take one away. Pluto was one of my favorite planets!!!! Plus, now they will have to re-do all of the school books, space books, maps, and everything that has to do with space. Do you think that it is the right decision or wrong? Why?

If you look at their reasoning, the decision makes good sense. Pluto was discovered back in the early 1900s, and since then many other objects have been discovered that are similar in size orbiting the sun as well. They simply established criteria on what should be considered a planet, and Pluto was ousted because it didn't not meet the agreed upon criteria. With all the new discoveries being made the science community wanted an consistent standard that could be applied when classifying a heavenly body.

As for all the text books, maps and everything else this should be no big deal. Look at all the changes that had to be made when the USSR fell apart, we saw more new nations created and maps were outdated daily. We had no problem then, why should we have a problem now?

Just because they say so doesn't make it so. We will always remember Pluto as a planet.

I Think that they had nothing better to do than to wonder which piece of information that already has been learnt almost by heart must disapear. It both blows and sucks (if that's physically possible)
