You aren't on workman's comp unless your supervisors filed out a first report of injury and submitted the paperwork. You need to check with your personnel or insurance department to make sure that was done. Most workman's comp programs require that you are out at least a week before the benefits kick in. They have their own doctors that you can use or find your own. They can not force you to use their doctors.

Workman's comp plans and benefits are governed by your state. Check with your state's insurance agency or like louisiana we have a separate workman's comp agency which should be able to tell you your rights.
