You have obviously read "America, the Book." It was named after him because of his ownership of newspapers, not because of the type of journalist he was. Pretty crazy, huh?

Toward the end of his career, after Pulitzer had amassed his fortunes, he reflected on the poor choices he made and attempted to atone for it. Not only did he backtrack from the excesses of yellow journalism, he instituted the Pulitzer prize to re-emphasize the importance of quality journalism.

Yep, I agree it should be an award for yellow journalism, and they should name the award for journalistic excellence after me, because I do care that the reporters get the story right. :)
