Athlon is very good and has low power consuming chips. It is better if you are hardcore gamer. You can also upgrade to Vista (you need about 1GB-2GB RAM to run smoothly) because AMD athlon can do 64-bit processing so it will be more useful in the future incase you want VISTA. Pentium 4 is waste but if you have time wait for Intels next generation processors (core duo processors) they are much better than Pentium in power consumption as well as processing power. In duo processors, I would choose Intel.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Bit proccessor is the one for me, it hasnt made my computer that much faster it makes photo-shop run better or if im video editing or if i want to connect my computer to the plasma it runs well, my sons computer is almost the same spec but INTEL PENTIUM 4 prosssor it will freeze on the tv and doesnt like photo-shop much a lot slower.Tony

AMD Athlon 64 Bit proccessor, their prices are much cheaper, their systems easier to optimize, often pack better performance, use less power and stay cooler as a result, can usually push twice the speed, their retail warranties are better, wide range of support from hardware manufactures, PC modding communities, and extreme gamers. Stable and solid design, newer technology.

There is no doubt intel. If you want half a processor then go with amd.

The proof of this is 99% of companies use intel this isn't due to price as intel tends to cost more.

Go for Intels new processor, the Core 2 Duo or Conroe as it is sometimes called. Much faster than anything else out there.
